Daxton the Brave!

OK... so the day came for Daxton's dentist appointment. From the moment he woke up he made it perfectly clear that he didn't want to go. I heard it at least 50 times before we finally arrived at the dentist around 8:30am. He was so nervous that his pretty little eyes started filling up with tears as the nurse put the numbing medicine on his gums before the shot. The Dr. came in and told him he would feel a "mosquito bite" (ya, right) and then he would count to ten and it would be all over. Daxton squeezed my hand so tight my fingers went numb! Once the Dr. was done he told Daxton that the worst part was behind him. Daxton looks up at me and in pure Daxy style says... "That's it? Is the shot over?" I said "yes, and you did great!" He then replies... "That didn't hurt at all - the worst part was the numbing medicine... that tasted horrible". As the Dr. and nurse laugh he then goes on to tell me that now he knows that cavities don't hurt. My little plan of thinking that this would scare him into brushing better backfired on me. Now he thinks it's pretty cool to watch a movie and miss some school to go to the dentist. Plus the Dr. let him pick 2 prizes from the treasure box since he was so brave. Daxy's looking forward to going again next week to have another cavity taken care of and to get more of those awesome prizes. He's too tough for his own good. Oh, where did I go wrong? (hee hee)
